Pliocord® VP is a critical component of the adhesive system (RFL) used to bond the reinforcement fabrics and the rubber stock in a tire.

While tire cords have high strength with relatively low elongation on one hand, rubber on the other hand, exhibits high elongation with relatively low strength.

The role of Pliocord® VP is essential to bridge this gap. Pliocord® VP also fits with the different RFL systems which are formulated to cope with the reactivity of the cords which varies significantly according to the nature of the fiber (nylon, polyester, rayon).

BEAD WRAP
 

 
Pliocord® VP also plays an important role in the treatment of bead wrapping reinforcement.

It ensures the cohesion between the beads whose function is to anchor the plies and hold the tire assembly on the rim of the wheels and the rubber.


CHAFERS
 
Pliocord® VP is particularly suited in the treatment of chafers used around the outside of the bead to protect the cord plies against wear and cutting of the rim, distribute the flexing above the rim and prevent the penetration of moisture and dirt into the tire.
 


TIRE CORD FOR CARCASS and/or CAP PLY
 

 
Pliocord® VP is widely used in the ply cords which extend transversely from bead to bead and are the reinforcing members of the tire.

Pliocord® VP provides the ply cords the necessary adhesion to the ply skim coat compound which covers and surrounds the carcass ply of the tire.
