Chemigum® and Sunigum® powdered elastomers have been used to tailor-make thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) in blends with different types of plastics for flat and rolled applications, such as membranes, synthetic leathers, automotive interior skins…etc.

PVC

Chemigum® elastomers enhance flexibility, oil resistance, abrasion resistance and 'rubber-like' appearance. They also help to retain plasticizers, thus maintaining physical properties after severe aging.

An important benefit of the Chemigum® elastomers is the ability to enable deep-draw during thermoforming without the risk of uneven thinning and pin holing of skins. In addition, it also improves the embossed grain retention of the calendared skin during the service life of the product.

Sunigum® elastomer is intrinsically resistant to degradation by heat and Ultra-Violet (UV) radiation. It enhances oil resistance and soft touch of the TPEs.

ABS, ASA, SAN

Thanks to its chemical composition, Sunigum® elastomer is naturally a good candidate for the modification of ABS, ASA or SAN resins. Sunigum® elastomer extends the application possibilities of these resins by lowering the hardness and bringing soft touch characteristics. This type of blend is used to manufacture soft flexible skins for the automotive industry or semi-rigid thermoformed soft/hard composites.

TPU/COPE

Sunigum® elastomer modification of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) or Co-polyester (COPE) provides a way to lower the hardness and the modulus, improve softness and lower gloss if needed. Sunigum®/TPU blends are particularly used for skin and leather applications where Sunigum® improves processing characteristics in both extrusion and calendering.

POLYOLEFINS

Thanks to the development of compatibilization techniques, Sunigum® elastomer can be used as a modifier of many polyolefins. Improved aesthetics (soft touch), PVC-like drape properties and HF weldability are the main advantages associated with these types of blends. The Sunigum® product range includes pre-compatibilized grades in the form of pellets for direct and easy blending with olefins.
